View Full Version : Multiple Phases shown as solid in one view...?

The project I am working on has Multiple Phases (Phase 1, 2, 3).
I am being asked to create an overall plan showing all of the new work as solid and the existing to remain halftone. Some of the Phases overlap, so overlaying views on a sheet is out of the question.
Is there an easy way to accomplish this?
Thanks

It's not really possible the way you have it set up now. At any given phase, all the phases before become "existing," so Revit doesn't really know the difference between "Existing" before you started the project and "Existing" that is phase 2 when you're working in phase 3.
Could you split it up into two views? One showing the new work set to "Show Complete" and one showing the existing? Could you export the existing stuff to another file (group to new file, then link back in)? That way you could manually override the linked existing to be halftone.
Other than that, you'd be stuck with combining the latter phases (1-3), although I'm guess that's not really an option...

There is a way, it takes a few extra steps.
You can do it with filters. Add a project parameter, "phases". Then make the appropriate assignments to the objects. Then filter views to get the graphics to look as you wish.
If you have a lot of phases, just assign the 'final phase' with a designation, then filter what is not in the 'last phase' to display gray.
It is very flexible, unlike the Revit Phasing system.

We also need to set up a similar view that shows all of the new work with the existing-to-remain. In that view, we have decided to:
1. Temporarily change the view's phase to Existing and filter to Show New
2. Window select everything and override graphics in view by element to be halftone
3. Set the phase of the view back to the newest phase and the phase filter to Show Complete.
It seems to be working pretty well for us, and we can use Revit's phasing tools in this method.
