Hi all,
i'm an autocad junkie and my new job only uses microstation. they do have autocad civil 2011 available for me to use but all the drawings are done in microstation V8i.
How can open these drawings in autocad...work on them..then save them back to microstation format?
this microstation is killing me..please help

Click the big red "A" in the top-left corner of the screen. Move the cursor over "Open" and see if "DGN - Import ..." is there (I'm pretty sure it is).
Alternatively, uStn has (almost) always had the ability to read and write (poorly) DWG and DXF files.

Technically, you can import the DGN files (depending on their version), as AutoCAD entities, using the command ._DGNIMPORT -- and you can work on them, and then export back to v7 or v8 DGN using the command ._DGNEXPORT
But note that the translation between DGN and DWG is not perfect and you might lose or change data without knowing it in this process.
You might experiment on a few drawings before deciding if this fits your workflow.
