I have drawn my first House in Revit for engineering and analysis purposes, and all went well, but I was wondering what the best way to create a complicated roof would be...one with returns and varied overhangs, clerestory walls etc. I created the roof as close as I could get it, am not sure what the best way would be to edit it...or if there is a better way of doing it from start with reference planes?
Also I would like to create a wall that in plan view would show a tag with a number I would put in manually representing a "shear wall" and a length on wall (automatically), this would be cumulative along a prescribed grid line.

Thanks Paul Gallien, Gallien Hanson Engineering Inc.

Please post a sketch of the roof you are trying to make. Basically I typically create the roof in multiple pieces. I look for the main form first, make it, then add and subtract from that using other roofs and depending on the complexity inplace families and voids.

Thanks Scott! That confirms what I did...and found by trial and error.
