Automated attaching within timeliner.

can anyone point to a resource or explain how the rules work for automated attaching of objects to tasks from a program in timeliner.
the name of the object for instance is...
ARUP_UTS_STR_BAS_CON_MST_R00_101210_COL.igs
the name of the task is
Str Bas Col
What kind of facility is there to automate the matching of these?
Tried the help but couldnt make sense of it.
am using navisworks simulate 2011

i have tried running the rules but nothing seems to happen.
I am running the rule that states ...
"Map TimeLiner Tasks from Column Name to Selection Sets with the same name, Matching case."
Have tried changing matching to ignore re case.
