Units resetting when editing blocks

I've chosen to create my drawings with units in meters. Every time I create or edit a block, it assumes I want that block in inches. So I choose meters. Then when I edit that block, it says my units are in inches and when I edit the block, my units have reverted to inches! What's going on?! This is driving me crazy.

It sounds like you are starting with an imperial template file; try using a metric one.
