Was the underlay option changed in rel. 7.0?

- I no longer have the underlay options: Current Level, Level Above, and Level Below
- if i set level 2 as underlay on level 1 I no longer visually see the wall's / objects on that level unless i hover over them with the mouse. This is if there's a floor between the levels. If ,on level one, I hide the floor objects the wall's appear.
I thought this was different in 6.1?
The current situation gives me no benefit.
Using the latest build 20041213_2030

If level 2 is my current level and I display level 1 as underlay they display correct
but not the other way around

In 6.1, underlays of levels above, displayed as a view from ABOVE, even when set to Hidden Line.

In 7.0, underlays of levels above, display as a view from BELOW, when set to Hidden Line.
So in 7.0, the floor slab above a level will obscure the walls sitting on that slab, in a hidden line view.
To get a similar display to 6.1, it’s necessary to set the view to Wireframe in 7.0

The attached graphics may help explain the difference.

Very much appreciated.

Thanks Beegee

Thanks for the clarification Beegee,

Any reason why this was changed?
I don't see an advantage over the previous rel.

I think we would benefit if functionality that change over releases is explained in a read me or something. (Cfr. filled region,...) The help file in 7.0 explains the 6.1 behavior. It would save allot trial and error time.

The attached graphics may help explain the difference. Hi Beegee. Like others I too have been having difficulty in understanding the concept of Underlays in Revit 7 and appreciate your guidance in this thread. However, for some reason I still don't get it. Could I ask you for a 3D view of your posted example to help me comprehend the relationship of the walls?

Thanks

Send me that font, please, Beegee, if it is PD. It's like Corbu just walked int he room except you have too much hair and not enough glasses.
