Way back when.........Revit 6.0 to be exact, we had a technique where we could duplicate a plan view, rename it the sheet view and place the sheet view onto the sheet.
The advantage to this was that we could do CD annotations like dimensions in the sheet view using activate view. Because the sheet view was separate from the plan view in the model, view specific items like dimensions would not telegraph back to the main model. This was useful because the main model would be kept free of annotation clutter for presentations, brochures and other designer stuff.
I am trying to duplicate this procedure in Revit 2011 (soon to be 2012). Of course Revit has changed since then and some features have been taken away by the factory. I have discovered that duplicate as dependent actually does sync the annotation elements back to the main model. In effect, they are not really as view dependent as advertised. However, duplicate view and duplicate view with detailing appear to create dead copies that do not update with the main model.
Does anyone know of a procedure where I can reach my goal of keeping construction annotation out of the main model by entering them through the activated sheet? Only the duplicated view is placed on the sheet, never the main model.
