Hello everyone,

Can someone help please, I am trying to create a schedule in MEP to count data outlets that were added in our MEP plan. I would like to pull in the Room number and room name or space number and space name from a linked RVT architectural file is this possible?

In the Data device schedule I edit fields I have checked include elements in linked files. This check mark then includes in the Select available fields from dialog box RVT links but the only available fields are RVT Link: File Name & RVT Link: Name I then try adding them to the scheduled fields but only get them listed in the header, this seems to me should give us the option of pulling the actual fields from the linked field such as room number, name or space number, name but it does not work as I expected. What am I missing?

Thanks in advance for your helpm

Hi James,

Here's how would do this:

1. Select the linked file, edit the Properties of the link and make sure Room Bounding is selected.

2. Place spaces automatically, per level, based on the link.

3. Now the properties of both the Room and the Space are available as a drop-down choice from the Schedule Fields dialog.

Hope this helps,

Just an FYI, you can also pull off all the rooms or spaces without placing them.

Instead of adding fields from the RVT Link and Project Information, simply add them from the Room or Space fields. If your "Include elements in linked files" is activated, it will pull all the info in.
