View Full Version : hunting user keynotes

Hello all,

Does anyone know a way to select all "user keynotes" at once rather than just all keynotes?

My firm is getting more advanced in implementing Revit, and we are moving away from user keynotes as much as possible in favor of element or material keynotes. Obviously user keynotes still have their place, but there are many instances where an element or material keynote should have been used and was not.

I need to go back through a few of our active projects and change as many as possible. The only way I know of to do this is to select every single keynote individually and look at properties. If anyone has a method for finding or selecting the user notes separately it would save me hours of trouble.

Thanks in advance,
-LP

Almost 10 months after ...bump!, but still, no way to do that. There is a read-only parameter, "Key source", but Revit does not give us a way to use that parameter. A task for API maybe? I don't know.

Bummer, but thanks for the reply. I just revisited this issue because we have a new drafter on a project who (unbeknownst to me) drew a whole slew of details with filled regions and user keynotes rather than detail components and element notes. They *look* right, but now i have to change out a bunch of framing notes, and omg... It feels like I'm back in ACAD.

I tried solving this with a duplicate keynote legend filtered by "key source" but no luck. As you said, it is unavailable for use. Select-all-instances is also no help. I would put this on the Autodesk wishlist, but if we still don't have a decent text editor by now...

Seems that you need to add a new rule at your office, print it out, and put in on the wall; especially, in this guy's cubicle: "DO NOT USE USER KEYNOTES". :)
