View Full Version : 2012 Crashes When Inserting/Combining Phases
Is anyone else encountering repeated crashes when creating or combining phases in Revit 2012? We have 14 phases across several inter-dependent project files (all of which were begun in previous Revit releases,) but I receive fatal errors in most of the files when trying to add or combine phases. The only work around that I've found is to go back to my copies that were archived before upgrading to 2012, making the changes, and then upgrading the files to the newer format, but I can't sacrifice the 1,000+ hours of work produced since the files were archived.
I've been dealing with phases since Revit 2009 1st came out, and I haven't had significant issues like this before. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I encountered the exact same issue last week when trying to combine phases in 2012. Project was started in 2011. You're not alone.
I'm not sure if that's encouraging or not...
I did find one other work-around, but it hasn't worked consistently for me:
1) Open the Phasing manager and insert a new phase in the desired location.
2) Once the "serious error" window pops up, click "Continue Without Save" and then immediately close the Phasing manager window.
3) Reopen the phasing manager window and try your luck again.
4) Syncronize after inserting phases successfully and before changing object phasing properties.
Believe it or not this strategy has worked on most project files as long as I was in the Central and that no one was working in a local at the time. I also selectively open worksets to just open Workset 1 (we have all of our linked revit files on individual worksets.) I've tried opening all and selectively, and this has produced the best effect so far.
Autodesk: This needs to be fixed pronto.
Thanks.

In order for us to investigate this properly, is it possible to send me a project where the issue is reproducible on? If yes, please send me an email.
