Ceiling Legend question

This is probably simple but when I place a 2x4 light for example it just shows the outline of the light, I want to show the circle and lines also.....

You will need to open the family and check the visibility settings for the plan. ( Thats where the legend component gets its defination from )

You could have the model set to display correctly correctly , or else set up symbolic linework to show what you need.

The visibility settings can be set to display or hide elements at different detail levels.

Try changing the legend to a wireframe view instead of a hidden line view.
