View Full Version : 2012 Ceilings are not Healing. Apparently component holes are permanent?

I have a existing host ceiling.
When I demo a light out of it an "infilling" ceiliing is dropped on top of it in the same geometric space.
Demo 6 lights, get 6 infilling ceilings on top of your existing one.
Oh, and I can still see the outline of where the light was.
Has anyone run into this before?
Does anyone know a solution to this?

That's how demoing works when it's an existing object hosted by another existing object where the demo object cuts the host. A piece of the host created in the New phase infills the hole.
I typically would want those edges to show as I want to denote the extents of areas that need to be filled in.

I must not have explained that very well the first time through.
I am fimilar with how infill elements are suppposed to work when you demolish something.
That said,(please see attached) The problem is that when I demo lights out of this ceiling instead of filling the 2x4 hole left by the light Revit fills the opposite space in the ceiling, and leaves the cut space where the light was unfilled, hence the infilling ceiling occupying the same geometric space as the existing actual ceiling.
I just wanted to know if anyone knew why this is happening to this ceiling type.

Check your ceiling's boundary. Someone may have made the ceiling cut around the light fixture. Depending how the light fixture was made, it may have been the only way for the ceiling to show correctly.
