Is there a way to get the elevation data from google earth to create a revit toposurface. I downloaded the globe link add-in and brought in the google earth image into my site plan. I would like to be able to create a toposurface.

You would have to do it with points, the topo from google is very rough. But you can put your cursor over a google earth map and see the elevations and just create a topo surface by points in revit.

I know how to read the coordinates and ground elevations in google earth by moving my cursor over the image, but how do I get those elevations into my revit model. The google image I imported into my revit model is not active and will not display the elevations when moving the cursor over it.

No, and be careful extracting information from GE. You will find it is not to scale, and the image may be slightly skewed being a composite of airplane flyovers. Your best bet would be to rotate the camera in GE to get a view of the terrain and manually eyeball the surface while you are modelling the topo in Revit. You will also find that 3D topo's don't export to GE and you have to create simplified masses to do 3D topos exported to GE.

no luck with any of these ideas or ones from revit forum link. If anyone knows of another source of info on this it would be greatly appreciated.

The resolution of GE elevation data is not that great. Can't you get elevation data from your country's mapping department (eg USGS or Ordanance Suvey)

Can you provide a bit more detail on what exactly did not work?
The Revit Forum post explanation worked fine for us on a similar project.
