Why is it that whether its a ceiling hosted or wall hosted family the first time you go to the 3D view its shows the wrong side of the host element? Put a cabinet on a wall go to 3D and you get an impressive view of the back side of the wall. Try a light on a ceiling and you get an equally impressive shot of above the ceiling. Why???

Confusing yes.

I do several things to the templates I use to make families. I always have Wall 1 and Wall 2 so I can flex the family with wall width.

I also make the wall of 2 materials - an interior and exterior - which are of different colors/texture. This way I can tell front from back as I'm working.

I also typically have Width/Depth/Height parameters set up. It is simpler to delete them that recreate each time.

It would be nice if some of this were provided by the factory.

It's a quirk eh? The templates all seem to be set up looking at the back of the wall for some reason...always have. The View 1 is correct... Aaron's advice is sound!

Mr. Campbell...any reason for this?
