I have created a slab with different layers for my slab on ground. I then created a slab profile for the edges. But the layer below the concrete cuts through my slab profile?
How can I have the slab edge profile join up with my slab?

use join geometry under modify tab. pick slab edge then slab.
this should join the concrete slab and edge together, and cut the lower slab profile.
also helps if the materials are set to same type.
do not think Revit has layers for slab, like the assign layer function for walls.
This would be good wish list item for future release.
Revit does have layers for slabs. In that I can have a finishes layer, a thermal layer and a structural layer all with respective materials. Thats nothing new.
What is new is that in Revit 2012, you can break a layer within a flooring system into parts, i.e. same structural layer, different finishes in different spaces.

It also has layers for deck profile, you can add a sand layer, vapor barrier and granular drainage course to your slab on grade.
In order for them to join, check your materials. Revit will not join different materials. ie 4000psi conc and 3000 psi conc will not join for example.

Yes, slabs have layers, but the layers do not work the same as layers for walls.
I have not found the tools to wrap or split layers in slabs like in walls.

Only option I can think of for your situation (other than using separate slabs) would be to first make a void sweep to remove the portion you don't want, then add a sweep back for the turned down slab. Just a thought.

Hi,
Another option would be to use the 'cut profile' command which allows you to cut back slab layers individually.
You will also need the linework tool to tidy up some of the lines

you can split slabs in 2012 with the new "parts" tools. not sure what you need for wrapping
one layered slab pictured in the attached.
now if i can just get a job where the Architect wants to use 2012....

Thanks for the tip, I will study more about using the parts feature, I skipped over this one.
It looked like the parts and assembly tools was geared for precast detailing.
I might use the parts feature for other means.
