Current office situation:
2 Revit stations + 4 AutoCAD stations.
All licenses are stand-alone. We have never had network licenses and I know very little about them.

Future situation:
I've been doing a bit of a thinking about the next 12 months and the process of upgrading the remaining users onto Revit. This process will happen 1 user at a time about every 3 months. Since we have only a small drawing office, management will not allow upgrading more than 1 user at a time to avoid down time through training.

Now... obviously we will still require AutoCAD for opening past projects and projects received from outside the office, etc. etc, but not for detailing Revit projects.
So I was thinking of having 1 AutoCAD network per 3-4 users, for the odd AutoCAD task.

I wanted to get some comments from others who have been in this situation. Has it worked for you? Do you think that 1 network AutoCAD license will be enough to share around 6 users?

...Current office situation: 2 Revit stations + 4 AutoCAD stations....Have you asked for a quote to upgrade to Revit Series across the board? Or one at a time anyway? This puts Acad on every desk along with Revit. An upgrade of your existing AutoCAD seats to RS and Revit to RS might be equivalent to a couple license of standalone. You'll pay an upcharge to go to Network version too (no idea what that'll run you)

No. I would have thought that the upgrade cost of 6 copies of the Revit Series vs 6 Revit's + 2 AutoCADs would have been substantially more. I think it might be worth asking for an upgrade price for the Revit Series option to compare.

Can't say for Australia but Autodesk and the resellers have run promotions of and on over the last couple years for upgrades anywhere from $250 USD to $1200 USD per seat... A far cry from full seats.

It is quite a bargin to upgrade your autocad to Revit Series... Even is you're running 2000i it's under $2000!!
