Wall Recessed Reveal for a PC Panel

I am having trouble creating a reveal for a precast panel wall. It's a 1/2"x3' recessed reveal. No matter what I do I cannot get it to work properly. Wall editing is not my forté and I am still very green behind the ears with Revit. Any help is appreciated.

Reveals can be added as part of the wall definition (horizontal ones anyways), as in place reveals from the wall tool or as hosted or in-place families.
Can you describe in a little more detail what you're after (assuming it's not too late for this reply). Horizontal, vertical, continuous, spanning openings etc.

I had the same issue not too long ago while creating familes. The key ingredient for me was to use the join geometry tool and join the extrusion and the wall host together to create the recess. You may be able to do the same thing outside of the families and achieve the same result.
