Why cant i make use of detail lines in locked 3D views?

Hmmm....that's a bummer...One would think that if tagging and text would work, so would detail lines. :?

yeah, now I either have to model it all, or let go of the idea of doing 3D strip sections

That is another solution. But the lines dissapear into the walls/floors at some places.

I believe the technical reason has to do with how Detail Lines (and Annotations) are done internally to Revit.
Think of a View (2D or 3D) as being behind a window. The View that's generated (FLoor Plan, or RCP, or 3D) is on the far side of the glass. Detail Lines and Annotations are drawn ON the glass. They are not really a part of the View.
But why that means you can't draw on the glass in a 3D View, I don't know.
