Hello,

I have a problem with a set of stairs that I have drawn up in revit that consist of multiple flights linking 5 levels together. The default hand rails that were created were totally wrong so I had to re-do the hand rails manually. I used the method of picking the stairs as a host when I'm drawing my new rails in manually but everytime I try and do the rails on the other levels, revit seems to pick the same host location that has existing hand rails already made. To clarify this even further I have attached an image for your viewing to get a better idea. Please not that the stairs are all in one flight and have not been broken up into levels.

Hope to hear from you soon and thankyou

Hi Ni8rider

With using multistory stair your sketch for the stair and rail need only be drawn at the first level. On the stair properties dialogue box under multistory you select the top level (in this case level5). The base level remains as (1 )and top level as (2).

Not sure if you are using multistory stair as you are attempting to draw rail at each level.
I did the stairs both ways –multistory and for each level (only did 2). The only issue I came across was that the position of the sketch line for rail needs to be at the edge of the flight of stairs at where the inner boundary of the stringer is located (if you have a stringer if not just edge of stair). Otherwise the rail does not follow the slope.

When sketching rails at every change in angle (elevation) the sketch line needs to be a separate line and they all need to connect.

Hope this helps
