Hi, I'm trying to create a structural foundation tag with elevation, that references the top of footing instead of bottom of footing.

I can create the parameter but it shows as a ? instead of an elevation value, perhaps I am choosing the incorrect "type of parameter"?

How can I add a category parameter

I tried to look for the elevation at bottom parameter txt file, but could not find it. A seperate but likely important consideration is the shared parameter file for RST 2012. I am still struggling with this concept.

thanks

Hi there,

I believe that you will not be able to automatically report the value of the top of the footing within a Foundation Tag. There are two alternate routes you could pursue: use spot elevation markers (preferred) OR use a shared parameter into which you could "push" the value. The first method will automatically udpate any change to the model, the second method will not. Find Spot Elevation on the Annotate tab. In 2012 you can even lock your 3D view and use the Spot elevations.

Thanks, I have been using spot elevations and it works, but is a bit tedious.

I agree about the second method, I thought it would work but appatently not.

thanks
