View Full Version : Revit needs a more powerful text editor

Summary: Add better functionality to the text editing capabilities, such as Microsoft Word or even AutoCAD

Description: Add more functionality to the text editing tool such as:
- Bullets
- Indenting
- Double-spacing
- Multiple fonts within the same field
- etc.

It's ridiculous that a program such as Revit, with expensive as it is, does not have the ability to annotate properly! The only current work-around for advanced formatting is to either create hundreds of separate text fields within Revit or create a jpg image of the AutoCAD file containing the required text format.

Further to the Description:
- Better grips (Like AutoCAD)
- Should not wrap differently at different zoom levels
- Columns (Like AutoCAD)
- Change Case (Like AutoCAD)
- Symbols List (Like AutoCAD) rather that having to use Alt+[shortcut] or copy from another program

YES! This is frustrating to many users. You can ALMOST edit the text to be the way you want/need, but not really.

Some of the most requested items that I've heard are:
- Bullets & Numbering : need to be able to continue numbers without starting over. This also goes along with ability to:
- Double Space lines : Or adjust the spacing between lines (without the auto numbering starting over)
- Indenting : Need to be able to adjust indentation levels, and/or have multiple indent/tab levels.
- Columns: Would also help work with all of the above.
- and the text should not wrap differently at different zoom levels. That can be really annoying & frustrating.

This is a huge need for us. Very frustrating that Revit MEP text editor falls far short of the already mediocre AutoCAD text editor.
