We would like to be able to tag demolished objects similar to how we use keynote tags in exterior elevations: we place a keynote that only shows the key value based on the keynote legend on the sheet, and the keynote legend defines the key value.

Is there anyway to create a new project type parameter that is just another keynote parameter that we can assign "demolition keynotes" to it? Or is there a better way for coordinating demolition tags and legends than manually entering numbers and coordinating the legends?

Right now we just use the attached annotation family which has an instance text parameter for entering the demolition "key value".

Thanks.

Have you looked at using 'user define' keynotes?

Yes, we use user-defined keynotes quite a bit, but I'm pushing to get away from them because they are unintelligent tags (compared with associating keynotes with materials and elements.)

This would be slightly better than what we currently do, but it would be great to be able to associate a demolition keynote at the element level so when we demolish any of those instances the correct demolition key tag is displayed and the keynote legend is populated accordingly.

So, can this not be done at this time with Revit? It seems like the tools are there, I'm just missing another parameter.

Thanks.

I'm not clear on why the graphic filters that would show the object as demolished wouldn't be sufficient on the elevation. Can you explain what you would want the tag to report when it's placed in the elevation? Is it just 'notes' relating to the demolition of the wall (the how/when/who? )

I guess I'm not explaining this very well. We would like to use keynote tags on our demolition plans so that when you tag a wall, a keynote tag with just a number in a triangle is displayed (key #) that is defined within a keynote schedule that is placed on the sheet. We currently do this with our exterior elevations and have created a small circle with a label in the middle for the keynote tag, and it works great.

The problem is I don't think Revit will let me create a new keynote parameter specifically for demolition. If I could, then I could associate custom demolition wall keynotes with our wall types, custom demolition window keynotes with our window types, etc. Since this doesn't seem possible, does anyone have a better suggestion than simply using annotation items that we fill out manually or user-defined keynotes that we select manually?

I guess I could have separate wall and window families for existing and new, and associate the demolition keynotes with the families representing existing building elements...does this make sense to others?

Thanks.
