Can you create custom "system panels" instead of a curtain wall panel family?

Is it possible to create custom system panels with parameters?

I need to create a curtain wall with a custom wall profile. Revit can only fill in the panels with the family "curtain panels ---> system panels". It doesn't accept the custom curtain wall family panels I've created.

It seems that "system panels" are masses in place and not families, which is why they are able to adjust to custom wall profiles. I need to have my glass edge extend down as far as the slab edge, but I cannot add a parameter to do this in the system panel.

A 'System' anything in Revit is by definition something you can't make from scratch. You can only edit or make duplicates. But you have made some custom Curtain Wall Panels you say. I have no problem selecting a system Curtain Wall Panel and swapping it out with a type from a family I've made from scratch.

Unfortunately only "system" panels can be used for non-rectangular panels.
