Allright,
Challenge of the day: How do I host an exhaust louver in a curtain wall family? The louver family was created within the window family category. Is this even possible? Any suggested workarounds?
Thanks so much.

Without rebuilding the louver as a curtain panel family (what I would recommend) you'll need to use a project wall type as your curtain panel infill. You can then place the louvre in the wall that's in the curtain wall.
There is no way to do this in the family editor, just in the project.
personally this is the way to go:

I've done it this way myself a few times.
BTW> Dimitri, you going to AU this year??

Try this file I made it a while ago when I started using revit so it may need some modifications I think only need to adjust the offset distance in the Type Properties

Rob,
thanks for asking :)
I don't want to hijack this thread but...
I had to cancel last minute last year and will probably give it a pass again this time around. We're sending three from our office to AU and I went to RTC last year to get my geek fix. I'm planning on RTC again this year. I can't say I missed Vegas much (six out of seven years in a row is too much for anybody, don't you think?) but I did miss the networking.
Are you planning on being there?
yeah, going this year, the irony is that in the 6 years that i lived in vegas, none of my employers wanted to invest in sending me. Now that I live in Spokane (moved here cause the inlaws all live here, and yes, a hop-skip-and-a-trot from homeland Canada for me, but not quite Montreal) my employer now is sending me. I debated on RTC, but I figured this would be a good way to catch up with old friends, plus the wifey is coming. It'sa dual purpose trip i suppose.
With that said, we'll be heading up to Vancouver soon, i'll have to let you know and we can at least meet up for a beer!
In the mean time, i'm going to get back to creating a typical panel louver for the office. We don't have one here, and the method I posted from Steve's blog is in my opinion the best one for the task at hand (bringing this one back on topic! haha)

Beer works for me. Drop me a PM and I might even buy.;)
As far as using mullions for louvers, I tend to not model individual blades (as mullions or anything else) unless I really need to for analysis or other purposes. I have a curtain panel family with a simple surface pattern to represent blades. It does the job graphically and is as light as it gets from a model standpoint. If the project only has a few louvers then modeling is okay. If louvers are used as an architectural feature and are prominent then I'd probably stick to lighter alternatives.
As with most things Revit, no absolute right or wrongs, just options with benefits and consequences.
i'm not opposed to that approach either, the only factor that people should keep in mind is IF they're rendering from within Revit for a view that might show the louvered section. Food for thought, and yes, it's the old 100-ways-to-skin-a-cat (has anyone ever skinned a cat?!?)

I personally wouldn't bother remaking the louver family. We also have a nice 3D louver family that is built as a window, so just change your curtain panel to any basic wall type, size your louver to match the area inside the CW mullions, and pop it in there to replace the entire piece of the basic wall type. Very simple.

I guess I should have added that I am using a curtain system to create my curtain wall. So when I am editing the panel there is now way for me to select a basic system wall so that I can host a louvr within it.
I am going to the AU conference for the first time this year and I am so excited I can hardly wait. Any suggestions/tips for a noob? Are you all going as well?

wow I can't believe how much time I wasted doing my louvers as a panel family, this is an easier approach

Tab-select through until you can pick the panel, then unpin it. Then you can change it to any wall type and place the louver in it.
