Paul903432 in his post regarding wrapping walls around columns, used the term "leaf" of a wall, a term American readers were unfamiliar with. As an American architect who spent some time in London, I know there are other terms that would stump an American. (I'm sure the reverse is also true). Here are some that will enlighten us Yanks:

earthing = electrical ground
plant = mechanical equipment room

any mention of imperial units (in UK) !
any mention of metric units (in US)
