I have been contracted by an engineer to do a field measurement and layout drawing of an office. The engineer uses Autocad and would like me to do the work on his Autocad for licensing issues, but I prefer to do my work in Revit.
The question is; If I do all my work in Revit (which I have a legitimate license) when the Engineer gets the CAD file and saves it with his AutoCAD does the file then take his license information or is my Revit license information always going to be part of the file?

First I've ever heard a question like this asked. Many people use Revit every day and collaborate with consultants using CAD by creating CAD exports and I've never heard of any such licensing issues.
I'm not sure if there is even any license info attached to such CAD export files. I just checked one of ours, and the file properties in Windows Explorer does not show anything related to Revit, that it was created from Revit, or anything like that. However if you wish, you can remove properties and personal information (at least using Windows 7 you can, not sure about others) by clicking the link at the bottom of the file Details tab in the file Properties box.
I even opened the file in ACAD 2010 and did not see anywhere that might say the file was created with Revit or contain any Revit license info. As I said, I've never heard of this being an issue. Have you run into issues on this subject in the past?

Its the first time I have ever been asked this question too. The Engineer said hes had some goverment clients asked to see his file license info in previous projects. He's always had a legitimate license so it hasnt been an issue but now hes just being precautious. I also looked at the some of my export CAD files and couldnt find any Revit license information either. But now that you mention it I do see the Remove Personal and Private information. I will try that approach, Thanks
I've been working in Revit for the last 4 years so I've lost a lot of my CAD skills. I couldnt remember where to find Autocad license information on the files. Or if it that info was even accessible thru the file.
