View Full Version : Spot elevations jumping to points on toposurface

Is there ANY way AT ALL to keep spot elevations from jumping to certain points on toposurfaces? I cannot seem to find any rhyme or reason as to which areas the spot will snap to a certain point. Some places it does it, and some places it doesn't.

I have a sidewalk with several points along both sides of the walk on the toposurface. In some areas the spot jumps to a point a foot away, and I cannot place any other point within that 1 foot radius around the point. In other spots there is no "jumping" and I can place spots anywhere I want, even right up next to or on top of one another.

So extremely frustrating, especially when I'm trying to show top and bottom of curb, and I can't have 2 points within 12 inches of each other in some places when I really need them about 1 inch apart.

Turning snaps off temporarily does not work at all.

Try using a really small subregion with the same materials at the area you want to place the spot elevation. This will create additional triangles in the topography (which is what the spot elevation is probably snapping to). Then place the spot elevation on one of the subregion's edges.

Also when doing spot elevations I've found it best to isolate only the objects you want to dim to. Revit seems to randomly select other stuff if they're close by. How is the side-walk / curb / road drawn? Separate subregions? Slabs? Model in-place? Etc? Try isolating only the one item, place its spot elevs. then isolate the next and repeat.
