Hi all,

I'm having an issue with my selection process in Revit 2012. For example, when you are hovering over an object and click, generally the highlighted object will be selected...not in my case. Ninety nine percent of the time I have to make sure the object I want to select is not highlighted in order to select the object (I know it makes no sense). Also, when I'm tabbing through overlapping objects, again generally the highlighted object will be selected, I have to guess when to click to select the object I want. For example, if I want to select the third option in overlapping items I may have to click after hitting the tab button once, twice, or even after the fourth time. Has anybody heard or seen of this issue before? Obviously it is very frustrating and I hope there is a quick and easy answer to this issue. Thanks in advance for any input provided.

When hovering over overlapping items, use the tab key to cycle through them. As you sect each one, whatever it is will appear in the properties window.

You may also do a crossing window. Check the little funnel in the lower right. If there is a number next to it, click to open. This will list all the fish you caught with the crossing window. You can turn them off in the filter, removing them from the selection.

Practice the selection techniques. There are some pleasant surprises. If you select a wall, the next tab will then show the whole string of walls connected to it.....You can delete an entire run of items this way.

I had a similar problem (not quite the same) as well; not for 2011, only for 2012
With me I worked out it was a problem with my graphics card, I updated to another version and the selection process went back to what I expected.
(If I go back to previous version, it starts happening again)
