Working in 2012 and have several elevations set up including the default ones. When I adjust the levels in the east elevation - it also moves the levels in the west elevation. Then if I adjust the levels in the west elevation, the east ones are moved from where I just put them. Any ideas what this is about? Is this a bug or some variable that I'm not aware of?

Thanks.

That's the 3D (global or all views) behavior of Levels, Grids and Reference Planes. Change in one view updates others. If you want different behavior in each view click on the 3D icon so it displays 2D instead. If you adjust things using 2D settings you can Propagate Extents (it's a tool and button) to other parallel views (like north and south elevations for example) with the button that appears on the ribbon when you select a Level (or grid).

Also remember that if your view is cropped in closer than the 3D extents of your levels and grids, their ends will automatically be set to 2D.
