View Full Version : assigning materials to family parameter

I'm not new to Revit, but I am new to Revit rendering. I've done lots of model building and CDs in Revit, but not a lot of full-out rendering. I created a simple extrusion to be a granite countertop, using a material parameter in the RFA file, then loaded it into the project. I assigned it to be a white stone with some speckles.

I have decided I want to reverse the color and make it black granite. I used edit type. I have not made any custom materials defs, everything I needed was already inside Revit (2011). I linked graphic appearance to render appearance.

The countertops in my plan refuse to change from the original white to the new black. When I go back to the family and edit type, the black granite reappears in the parameters form. I have loaded it into the project after every edit.

It's stuck on the original setting and won't budge.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

assign the material parameter in the family as "counter top"

control the render appearance of material "counter top" in the project

any changes in material should be done to material "counter top" in the project, not anything in the family.
