AUGIuk are passing on various issues with the Revit UK content in Autodesk in order to get them reviewed for the next release.

The report to Autodesk is intended to report what’s wrong with the “Out of the box” UK Content plus also what the UK Users would like to see. This includes:

Templates
What should be in them & What not?
• System Families(Walls / Roofs /Floors / Railings etc.)
• Materials / Property Sets etc…)
• Parameters (Schedules / Annotation / Tags)
• Anything Else…
Families:-
• Types
• Parameters
• Annotation
• Etc….

Please post your issue here or email the AUGIuk Chairman or raise it through the UK Local User groups.
This is your chance to have your say.

Thanks

Paul

I will send this out to our Revit users in the office to see what they think.

Excellent discussion.

If I can give my two cents I think that in order to facilitate exchange and information the components ID Group/description should be standardised as well.

For instance, all families that are under Components Tool should have a unique ID Group abbreviation. I am currently use these abbreviations :

CASEWORK [CW]
ELECTRICAL FIXTURES [EF]
ENTOURAGE [EN]
FURNITURE [FN]
GENERIC MODELS [GM]
LIGHTING FIXTURES [LF]
MASS ELEMENTS [MS]
MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT [ME]
PLANTING [PT]
PLUMBING FIXTURE [PF]
SITE [ST]
SPECIALITY EQUIPMENT [SE]

For Instance a sink counter family would be named as
CW_SINK_COUNTER

a toilet recessed spotlight would be
LF_WC_SPOTLIGHT

This allows me to sort among hundreds of components easily. Such abbreviations I think should be included in the AEC UK BIM Documents. With respect to this when will Revit have a search tool in the TypeSelector ?

I also believe standard Material Abbreviation to use in walls and ceiling as well as in hatch pattern should be introduced. As far as I know there is not a standar for this abbreviation.

What do you think?
