When I Reload a Family and choose the bottom button to overwrite Parameters (Type only - I tested that) it is not overwriting Type Mark. Is this a bug or have I misunderstood something?

Okay then, I found the answer. Type Mark is a special type of parameter, neither a type nor an instance parameter. Type Mark is a parameter which only exists in connection with a Project - a Family does not have a type mark. See http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=31346

What this boils down to is that a family can be used in multiple unrelated projects where it receives a Type Mark in each Project. It can be reloaded without changing the type mark used in that project. If you want to have a Type Identifier which is identical across multiple projects (for example on a campus style project with multiple buildings each in their own project file) you will need to create a new Type Parameter for the family.

Hope this solves these questions for someone other than just me!
