Is it possible to query a shape file that has parcel information? Wanting to create a mailing list for the parcels that are in a particular area.

Yes. It may require a long expression or something but what are you wanting to query on.(ex tax ref. 1000-2000) You may need to do a buffer overlay or something but a person of your expert wisdom should be able to do it. ;)

Guess my problem is I can't seem to figure out how to get access to the data with the FDO connection to use an expression. I can if I just import the shape file tho. Plus see "NoteThis functionality applies only to drawing objects." at the top of the help pages isn't encouraging.
My "expert wisdom"? lol Thanks for the laugh

First thing is you need the map task pane to query the FDO stuff. (MAPWSPACE)Then right click on the FDO layer in the display manager to query. No need to map attach or any of that ols stuff. The query dialog is a lot different than the old map attach/query one so you may want to review the map tutorials a bit. Holler if you need help.
