View Full Version : 2012 How do I show skewed column grid in elevations?

I have a floor plan where some of the column lines are not parallel with the others. In my elevation views these skewed grids do not show since they are not orthogonal to the view. So, the question is how do I show the missing column grid in my elevations?

Thanks,
Allen

You have to manually place a drafting line and draft a grid head bubble in the elevation view wherever you want the grid line to appear. Any adjustment will need to be handled manually.

Technically there is no "right" position for the gridline to appear since it is not perpendicular to the view direction (http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Revit/enu/2012/Help/Revit_User's_Guide/2654-Tools_an2654/2849-Datum_Ex2849/2851-Visibili2851). Consequently Revit does not display them.

The issue is where do you WANT the grid to be displayed in the elevation? Where the skewed grid intersects the outside face of the wall? At the nearest grid intersection? You can place a ref plane that is perpendicular to the elevation, and then align/lock a drafting line or a 2-pick detail component to that ref plane.

Thanks Jeff, that's what I'm thinking too. Was hoping I was missing something.
