Dear all,

My team is going to start a new institutional building project which has10 floors and each floor is
5400 sqm. How shold I break this project. Should I use Linking or workset.

1With my prior experience, I believe this will be a big file. Is working with workset will be advisable.

2 Links has their own problems. We dont get clean elevation and section of building. has to do lots of linework.

Any Suggestion from experts will be great help.

Regards
Annie

I would definitely go with Worksets since it is one building and I don't even think it is such a big building/file. We always workshare our projects and some of them are quite large. I'm currently working on a project that is about 65,000 sqm of condos in two towers, so of a similar size to your new project. This is all in one workshared file and we are generally happy with performance.

I would use worksharing regardless of file size.

As to whether or not you should break up the model there's a whitepaper on model performance put out by Autodesk that talks about file size vs hardware (http://images.autodesk.com/adsk/files/revit_tech_note.pdf I believe). When you start to exceed those numbers is when you want to take a close look at splitting up the model.
