Import Wire Frame model Autocad 2007

I am trying to learn on my own. Can a wire frame model be accessed from AutoCad into Structural Detailing and use as basis for making a detailing model? I have tried to load a DXF file into Structural Detailing, but I get a shutdown error when I try to use it as a wireframe.

When you open a non-ASD file with ASD, the program asks if you want to transform it into one, but this doesn't mean that the geometry you put in is intelligent.
A model coming from 3D Acad is not good for ASD.
