Teachers-

I highly highly recommend to students that they NEVER modify the Standard text style NOR the Standard dimension style. It's bad enough if they USE these, but they should never modify them. I explain that they want to keep Standard styles constant, for the sake of creating NEW styles using them (the Standard ones) as a baseline to begin begin new ones.

Furthermore, I explain that when drawings are inserted into others, someone gets their heart broken (the incoming drawing, I THINK), if everyone has modified the Standard styles.

Comment? Concurrence? Am I full of it?

I always modify the Standard textstyle to use romans.shx.

I don't use the Standard dimstyle because all my work (and teaching) is in metric. However, I don't like the standard (small "d") isometric dimstyles, so I create a new Standard0 dimstyle. But, I never use overrides. Every change to a dimstyle has a unique name.

Does it work? Well, yes but then, most of the people I work with have been taught by me or by people who have been taught by me, so I have a head start. :-)
