Ok, so I have a project in which there are two identical "wings" to the building which are separated by a seismic joint. (See attached image) One wing is a mirror image of the other wing. I have completely modeled all the structural framing for one of the wings and would like to select all the modeled elements, mirror them, and place them into the correct location in the model. I have tried selecting all the modeled elements and creating a group, however it seems when I mirror and copy the group, some of the column and beam system elements go awry and are placed in random locations. I have also tried simply mirroring and copying all the modeled elements however I cannot accurately move all the members at once into the correct location.

Does anyone know of a good way to go about this process? I do not want to create two separate building files and link them into a main project file. I want all framing elements to be modeled in one model. Also is there a good way to move and accurately relocate all the framing to match up with the building outlines as shown?

I would try this:

Create a copy of your original model (call it Mirror Model or whatever - maybe ZIP up the original in case you mess up).

Open the Mirror Model and select MANAGE -- POSITION -- MIRROR PROJECT then pick an axis.
Save the model.
Open the Original Model and link in the Mirror Model.
Move the Mirror Model into the correct location.
Then select the Mirror Model and BIND it into the Original Model.
Remove the Mirror Model link.

I've never tried this (haven't had a need to) but on paper it seems it would work.

Good luck!!

Thanks Matt, that did seem like a good idea on paper however when I tried this Revit would not allow me to link in the "Mirrored" model because I think all of the element ID numbers are the same in each. Revit gives the warning "Linked model & host file are versions of the same workshared model."
