View Full Version : Snapping to blocks in Feature Lines

I have feature lines that I project to profile views and section views. In the style, the vertices are markers that are blocks. I can't snap to them. Is there a way to snap to these?

The NODE osnap option will allow you to snap to those blocks used as markers.
Given you will 'only' be able to snap to the node.

Well, my problem is that I need to snap to the end point of one of four lines in the block. Snapping to the insertion point is not a problem.
So, you're saying this is another shortcoming?

If I called it a shortcoming others might think I was just ranting; so I'll let you name it.
perhaps move the NODE (insertion point)
OR
Add a label (block) component that has an Insertion Point (Node) at the desired location.
Perhaps send me a sketch of what you are ultimately after, and can run an experiment or three.

MJ,
Thanks for your offer, but I'm heading off for two weeks off for the holidays, so I'm not gonna worry about it now.
FYI, this deals with my other recent post about fixing PVIs to plan X,Y instead of the station. The block is a design template for curb ramps, with 12:1 ramps out 6 feet for all four quadrants (up left, down left, etc). The block is a marker for a feature line at the face of curb, so I can easily adjust the profile of my profile feature line to the appropriate quadrant. That way, I don't have to redraw or adjust a second block every time I move something.
So, I can't move the insertion point or add a baseline in the block, because I am inserting the block in the profile view as a marker for a feature line, and need that insertion point to be at the feature line. I'll think about your suggestion of using a label and I'll let you know.
Thanks
Scott
