Howdy, All.

I've searched through the forums and haven't found anything on this one. Can someone help?

We use 2008 on Window XP Pro system. Whenever I start up AutoCAD, I get a pop-up error that says I have an "Invalid URI". It gives some details and the option to "continue". If I click "continue" the pop-up goes away and I can keep working. The problem just started a few days ago. I don't think we've changed anything on the computer. This error does not come up on any of our other machines. The other guys haven't seen it before. I've attached a screen shot of the error message.

Has anyone else seen this error message? How do I fix it?

Thanks.

Merry Christmas,
David

it rather sounds like Acad is phoning home, and the connect string for the server it's trying to reach hs been corrupted. If you are running CIP, that may be the problem. To check, look under the Help pulldown for Customer Involvment Program, and shut it off.

If that doesn't fix things, you could try a Repair of your installation.

Thanks for the quick response.

I shut off the CIP and re-started my session. This didn't fix the problem. I am going to try to repair my installation now. Wish me luck.

Had to get our IT guy involved. Turns out this is not an AutoCAD error. It was caused by a Windows automatic update. Something that loaded overnight is causing a glich in my AutoCAD. He said the only fix is to completely "strip down" all the programs in my machine and then re-load them one at a time, until he finds out which one is causing the problem.

Thanks for your help!

Mery Christmas!

before I jumped into that level of work, i'd take a look at the event logs in Even Viewer - especially the security logs, and see if that will tell me what's erroring
