Hatching delays

After hatching a large item or area, any time I touch the hatch with the curser the hatch cycles two, three or more times taking as long as 30 seconds to give me back control only to do it again and again until I can it to delete. What is causing this and how can it be prevented in the future? Please advise. Thanks

its a common problem with complex or dense patterns. Try the above, if not, you can always turn off line highlighting to dash only, that helped myself.

Another issue I have is when editing complex hatches - the ribbon slows down interaction. I usually turn off the ribbon (Ribbon command) prior to editing hatches.

Context Ribbon for Hatch and Text are slooooooow to come up.
