In-place family visibility

I've got an in-place family in a room consisting of a sweep wrapping 3 walls 3' above the floor (data duct). Wall elevations of the room show the duct, even if it's behind the elevation control line.

The only way I can fix it is to make separate families for each side.

I think this has been discussed in the past, but anyone had this experience??

Andrew, try a search on doors and sections because a similar issue has been identified previously in that thread.

I think that what is happening is that you are cutting the in place family and therefore the way it works in section is to show it in much the same way as a plan shows the floor condition. Look at the inplace family and see if you can alter its visibility. That's the only guess I have.

You jarred my memory. If the family is cut, it'll show everything, front & rear... Separate families for each wall solved it.
