Our office standard with regard display of beams/walls/columns under a slab in plan view is a dashed line to the outside edges (as is typical). However to differentiate between a wall and a beam under a slab, a wall is cross-hatched as well as having the perimeter drawn in dashed line. Can anyone suggest a way to achieve this without resorting to manual drafting (filled regions etc). Thanks, Dale

The wall hatching will not show in plan Because it if under the slab. And the wall hatch will show only if wall will cut in plan using view range.

use the paint tool to "hatch" your wall below

not sure about the paint tool. but you can turn your slab transparent and create a selection set/apply filter/or overide graphics in view to those walls that stop under the slab.
have heard of people creating two views, one without the slab and overlaying the two on the sheet<--lot of extra work in my opinion but maybe necessary.
i know autodesk people are looking at creating some easier methods for doing this. there has been a lot of feedback provided to them about different standards for different countries/companies. but i wouldnt expect it to be in the next release or two. might be good to post a pic of exactly what you are looking to do.
