Hopefully this will get a few more views as I am now on day two of trying to construct a simple truss which could be done in 5 mins in AutoCAD.

I am now using the complex truss template so as to use the sweep command, as the standard one didn't work. Now I have encounted yet another problem. Drawing the outline of the truss and the webs, I have encounted a problem with the snap comment.
I have all the truss outline and webs drawn using the model line, exact one section. I snap on the end web, yet when snapping to the other end it keeps jumping say 5 degrees, I have tried turning off all snaps bar the end snap, nop. Decrease the snap increments down to 0.5d and 1mm. Nop

Is there a solution! Hopefuully so because I am starting ..........................

First there would be no reason to be drawing a truss with model lines. You will create geometry based on ref. planes. Trusses can certainly be tricky. So they are not a "first family". Can you post a snapshot of the truss you are trying to make. Do you need the truss to flex? Ie change based on span?

This is a very un-Revit-like answer: just build it as a Generic Model and change it's category to Structure. We have a very complex residential tower model with exposed trusses and we tried creating a trusses. On the one hand, we got them to work just fine as far as Revit was concerned (that is, they are Revit trusses with the right configuration). However, they didn't look good or behave well. We had trouble cleaning up joins and their interaction with other elements in our model made them a little wonky. So, we remade them as dumb Generic Models. We didn't need them to flex, each one is unique, and we aren't using our model for any structural analysis or scheduling of structure.

If you don't need them to perform as true structural members, I'd go with creating them as Generic Models.

Kindly describe a step-by -step way of creating a truss in revit architecture 2012.

The easiest way is to do as the poster above said: Do it as a generic model. Go to the front view in a generic template and draw the profile of the truss as an extrusion. Make the reference plane where the bearing chord is so you can adjust the plate height with the offset. Real easy.

I objected to this - figured there had to be something out there already. Then remembered RevitCity.com: http://www.revitcity.com/downloads.php?action=search&keywords=truss&user_name=&sort=score

Found a nice one that had enough parametric capability to show a generic truss in elevation/section.
