The linework tool must be the most tedious tool on the face of the planet!

Sorry about ranting.

I'm profiling my elevations and adding varying lineweights to them using the linework tool and it is very tedious work to drag all those blue dots around. Besides drawing detail lines over the elevations, is there a better way to do this?

Thanks!

Could you be more specific regarding how you'd like it to work? I've found that having a background on top of which to work has been a great time saver. Editing invidivual lines can get laborious, but not having to start from scratch does not suck.

I, personally, like the linwork tool. I only wish that objects cut in a section would allow "handles" on their linework modifications. There are many times that I want to modify only part of a line of a cut object. Unfortunately, this is currently only possible on elevation linework.

My 2 cents.

First click view visibilty and overide the projection line weights of all objects as you see fit to the most common lineweight that you want them, ie roof edges 5, walls 5, window openings 3, etc. then use the linework tool to clean up the rest. Note save this as a view template to assign to the other elevations.

You just need to make a decision as to which lineweight will give you the least need for the linework tool.

Would anyone mind posting their view templates that you use? I'm interest to see how you set everything up.

Thanks!

You can't really post a view template, it is saved in you project or project template. Basically as I described before, just go to an elevation view, click view visibility(VV) scroll down to walls and click the overide button on the projection line weight and set it to say 5, do the same with the roof. and anything else you want. then once you have all the lineweights set, under the view pull down select save as view template, give it a name and then go to your next elevation and apply view template. Note when you apply it you can then check a box that say to automatically apply to other views of the same type. Ie 3/4" wall sections.
