Hi Guys,

I'm Douglas from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

I'm with some doubts about revit structure 2012 that i'm using.

A- Here in Brazil we name our beams in project by levels. So we repeat the sequence every floor.

For example:

In first floor you put: Beam 1, Beam 2, Beam 3...

Then you go to second floor: Beam 1, Beam 2, Beam 3... (repeat the numerical sequence).

In Revit it takes some problem because each beam represents a family with its own identity. I don't wanna go every beam family and rename each one with the software giving me a popup alert that i'm repeating the name of a beam that is located some levels below.

Someone knows a better way to rename beams?

You may want to try tagging with the MARK in the instance properites instead of the type mark and/or type name.

But I name the beam with Mark, and put it as a tag of the family. But I have to do this with all beams and when I go to the next floor and restart the number sequence revit ask me if I want to repeat a the beam name that I've already used on the pasted level.

I would like to know if anyone knows an automatic way of naming beams, or if keeps the sequence of number even change the floor.

Example:
First Floor - ( Beam 1, Beam 2, Beam 3 ... Beam 40 )
Second Floor - ( Beam 41, Beam 42, Beam 43... Beam 80).

Anyone knows a way that I can restart the number sequences on each level?

Thanks Becca
