I'm using a subcontractor's AutoCAD model referenced into a Revit model. I didn't use "model in place" prior to attaching it as I need to manipulate the layers within. So now I cannot snap to the components in the referenced AutoCAD which is posing a huge problem.

Any ideas how I can get my dimensions to work without having to trace lines over the AutoCAD? You'd think the programmers would've allowed for a "static" dimension. Maybe they have and I haven't figured it out yet.

Thanks,

If you linked the files in and they are not placed inside a "model" or family, you should have no issue adding dimensions to CAD lines. Just use the "Aligned" dimensioning tool, the "Linear" is no good.

Please keep in mind these dimensions will probably disappear if those lines are moved or changed in CAD.
