Any one have any incite on creating a user specific XML file
my client requires an update of their XML metadata file, currently we do not have any ESRI products and I would like to avoid purchase. Is there a way to create/update a XML file using Map 5 or Map 3D?

In the MAPEXPORT command there is an option to save out to a GML v2 file that can have a xml extension.
Also in Map 3D there is an option to export out to LandXML under the Civil pull down.
These are the only two thing that I see that will give you an XML file. Not sure if they are exactly what you want.

You can create and edit an XML file directly in Notepad once you learn the format. It is really nothing more than HTML with the ability to define your own tags or apply a predefined Schema ( which is what LandXML is).Check out this website http://w3c.org/XML/ and this page for Schema info http://w3c.org/XML/Schema
