View Full Version : Windows aren't cutting through walls correctly

I'm using a wall style I created which is a 3 1/2" stud wall with a 1" air gap and a 4" brick facade.
Strangely my windows don't all cut into the wall the same, (see attachment). Some cut through brick and others don't. They all did when I first inserted them.
I would prefer the window thickness to be only as thick as the 3 1/2' stud wall with only an opening cutting into the brick if anyone can advise me of a cool trick for that without having 2 walls and having to cut openings in the brick. Seems like wishful thinking on that one.
Thank You

Try this family out. It is a single fixed window, but has the ability to have your jambs offset into the wall assembly from the interior or the exterior, depending on how you set the parameters. Play with the parameters in a 3d view and you will see how they work. It will cut the opening thru the whole wall but then if you adjust the setback parameter for exterior you will get what you want.

Try this, if you want or need more of the families for double hung, sliders, etc, then let me know. The text file is the type catalog which are sizes for Pella windows that we usually use in our projects.

Thanks Yman. This works pretty well.
I could use some of the other files. This project is an addition where I will be adding a few OXO windows. casement on 2 ends and fixed in the middle.
Thanks Again

Actually Yman, moving further along, they aren't cutting through the geometry properly either. If you look at this attachment, your window is the one labeled 22. It's definitely not displaying correctly??
Any thoughts?
Thanks
