I have been struggling for a little while to show columns in an easy to understand visual manner. We have numerous angled columns, and for our clarification, and the contractors buildability it would be very useful to show the sloped columns all the way to the underside of the floor above.
Ideally we would show the column as normal, with the cut plane set at default, but then show the rest of the column (perhaps using linework - dashed) continuing to the underside of the ceiling.
Our contractor is not using revit, so something like this where they can clearly see where the colum starts and finishes within a floor would be very useful, any ideas?

Have you tried using the "Plan Region"?

Go to View; Under Create go to Plan Views; Plan Region.
This will let you control the cut plane in a specific area.

Hope that helps?

Thank you. I think for now doing a plan region around all of our columns would be an unneccesary headache. We decide the best way to show this was to have seperate structure plans, where we could make the cut plane not 1500 but whatever the height was that the column hit the ceiling.
Thanks
